Iron Man 2 is so focused on setting up The Avengers (with the introduction of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow) that it never takes the time to be a good sequel to the original movie. It’s uncharacteristically sloppy, the script is nonsensical, and Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash is borderline incomprehensible. A better argument could be made for Iron Man 2 as one of the worst movies in the MCU.
